Florida

Weeks Air Museum

Naval Aviation Museum Naval Air Station, Pensacola, Florida 32508
Tel: 904-452-3543, Hours: 9AM-5PM daily.
It has a collection of US Navy aircraft dating back to the beginning of US Naval aviation, photos, films and other memorabilia. Indoors covers about two acres outdoors is about another 10 acres. If you go on a weekend when she is in port, you can also take a tour of the Lexington. (Mark O'Shea)

Georgia

Robins Air Force Base Museum of Aviation

Displays include Mace, Matador, and Bomarc missiles, B-29, B-47, B-52D, F-100, F-104, F-105, C-130, O-2, and others. They may be getting a U-2 soon. You don't have to enter the base to visit the museum. Also, Robert Scott ("God Is My Copilot") is active for the museum and is sometimes around. (Eugene Styer)

Grissom Air Museum

This outdoor museum has about twenty planes maintained by Air Force personal and the Air National Guard. The planes include a KC-97 stratotanker (I think this plane had both prop and jet engines), a B-?? (a high numbered pre B-1 supersonic bomber), F-111, F-86, and a Piper Cub reconnaissance plane. Mid America Air Museum

Hours: 8AM-5PM Monday-Friday, 10AM-4PM Saturday, 1PM-4PM Sunday. This is a very nice new museum (1988), located in the old Beech Duchess and Sport factory buildings on the airport. Lot's of interesting types on display including TBM, A-20 (on loan from the Smithsonian), T-50, Twin Navion, and many more. Sixty Aircraft on display. Located on the Liberal airport, but a short walk from either of the FBOs. No food on the field, but you can usually get a courtesy car to take the short drive into town.
